Freshwater gives it some welly raising money for national lifeboat charity

Staff at Cardiff-based media and communications group, Freshwater UK, raised more than £400 as part of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution’s (RNLI) Mayday initiative.

The RNLI Mayday campaign took place across the May Day bank holiday weekend to celebrate the hard work of the charity’s volunteer lifeboat crews and to raise money for necessary equipment and crew training.

The national charity uses yellow wellies, as worn by its lifeboat crews, as a theme for the campaign, encouraging people to get involved in a welly-themed fundraising activity over the weekend.

The Freshwater team held a series of fundraising events to raise money for the cause. This included company-wide games, held across Freshwater’s Cardiff and London offices, which raised £96.18, while account director, Louise Harris, donned yellow wellingtons for work for an entire week in return for sponsorship, raising more than £300.

Miss Harris said: “The strange looks I received on the train to work every day were absolutely worth it to help a great charity.

“Thanks to the generosity of friends and colleagues, I’m delighted with the funds we’ve managed to raise to support the RNLI in continuing its lifesaving work.”

The RNLI relies on donations to keep its lifesaving service running.

As well as fundraising for the charity, Freshwater is one of the RNLI’s rostered PR agencies . The firm’s team of 55 professionals has expertise across communications services including public relations, traditional and digital marketing, public affairs and media training.

Freshwater was recently shortlisted for a CIPR Excellence Award for its public affairs campaign with the League Against Cruel Sports, #WhatTheFox? The campaign was recently awarded Best In-House Collaboration at the PRCA Public Affairs Awards.
