Freshwater’s Ben Blackburn has been promoted to account manager in the London team.
30-year-old Ben joined the consultancy in March 2013, having previously worked in various roles in political intelligence and policy analysis in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors, including a spell working for Labour MP Margaret Hodge.
Ben’s role as account manager at Freshwater will see him take on new line management responsibilities as well as be the main contact for a number of the consultancy’s clients, including those in the transport, professional services, not-for-profit and healthcare sectors.
Ben says: “This is my second promotion since joining the company and is an exciting step forward in my career. Freshwater is a great place to work and has really brought out the best in me. Since I joined, I’ve had the opportunity to play my part in campaigns that matter and work on a number of accounts that have utilised my skills in media relations, stakeholder engagement and public affairs. I am now really looking forward to taking these to the next level.”
Since joining Freshwater Ben has worked on a variety of accounts including Thompsons Solicitors as well as playing a key role in the award-winning #WhatTheFox campaign for the League Against Cruel Sports, which scooped gold in the inaugural Public Affairs Awards at the end of last year.
Lucy Battle, director of Freshwater in London, says: “Ben is a real asset in the London team. After more than two years with us his natural flair and talent for communications, combined with savvy political insight, continues to deliver excellent results for our clients. We’re really pleased to promote him to account manager – it’s thoroughly deserved.”
Ben has an MSc in Global Politics from the London School of Economics and a BA in Geography from University College London. He is studying for the PRCA’s Advanced Certificate qualification.
