Freshwater was asked to help secure buy-in for plans to achieve planning consent for the Port of Tilbury on a neighbouring greenfield site.
The team re-branded the port and set in place certain corporate aspirations, including becoming Britain’s greenest port. This overhaul, combined with an extensive PR and stakeholder engagement programme, culminated in a visit by the then Conservative leader, and now Prime Minister, David Cameron in March 2010.
The visit generated nationwide coverage including BBC, Sky News and several national newspapers.
Consent was secured in under three years. Freshwater is retained to manage the political communications around the project and other acquisitions Forth Ports plc has made since.
